Carlos Manuel Bustillos Albuerne (Havana 1961).

Bustillos goes further in his pictorial legacy. This time he shows us these unique medium twelve format works where the human-animal simbiosis is displayed understood as something related to the sea. This is a submarine world which makes reference to shells of snails, tentacles, fins which shape the iconography used by Carlos, is a surrealistic world, where everything might happen and also man-fish simbiosis is shown. Thus, while visiting the exhibition, we witness the birth of these everlasting submerged beings. So, we have no choice but to ask where the author goes to: In this artistic work there is an emphasis on talking about characters mainly distinctive than weird. However, we are not sure if these primary characters are about to acquired the human resemblance or retrace the path of civilization and they go back to the original times when humanity slept in the deepest part of the submarine creature. Half-human-beings, half marine beings walk on these painter canvases who is committed to display us his personal thesis on creation. This obsession of presenting different beings is Carlos’ best success. We also take into account the excellent use of color by creating works with soberness and elegance, without loosing the accurate sense of what is meant to be said.

Therefore, these half-human and half-marine beings which are born before us, show us their hybrid condition while proposing a dialogue which aims at tolerance, and also the acceptance of the counterpart whatever its condition might be. This lucid exhibition doesn’t remain just on the painting display but it brings about a deeper analysis.
